A New Direction for The RG2E!!!

Happy Thursday, RG2E Peeps!

I’ve decided to make some changes to The RG2E that I think you’re gonna luuuvvv!

Our goal is to treat you to as many FREE ebooks, Ebook Gifts and/or Special Ebook Sale Events as we can.

And there’s a new way that authors are doing that…not just one at a time, but bunches of authors at a time.

Beginning today, we will no longer be featuring individual authors, but instead be focusing on large, multi-author ebook sale events.

For example, thru tomorrow (May 3rd), there’s a fabulous event called the Book Lovers’ Buffet Bouquet of Books Sale , featuring over 124 authors all treating you to ebooks for just 99 Cents!!!

Another one going on right now (thru today only) is the FREE Par-Tay, where several authors are offering FREE Ebooks, including FREE Ebook Boxed Sets too!!!

Be sure to check out these events and fill your ereaders!!! 🙂

There are around 350 of you fabulous RG2E Peeps who’ve signed up for our emails and a total of over 2100 followers across all platforms (Facebook and Twitter included). And I know how much y’all love discovering new books and authors!!! 🙂

For you email peeps, that means that each time I know of another fantabulous, multi-author ebook event, I’ll post it right here on The RG2E, and you’ll get your email with all of the scoop!

***If you’re not signed-up for our email, make sure to do so! The sign-up is along the top right-side of our home page.

I want to take a moment too to thank all of you for making The RG2E a terrific place to hang and share our love of ebooks and ereading! Y’all rock, and I look forward to continuing to hang with you!!!

An RG2E Ereading Experiment – When, Where and How Many Pages Per Day Are We Ereading?

Happy Weekend, RG2E Peeps!

We’re kicking off our first RG2E Ereading Experiment today!

For the next few days (thru 2/28), I thought it would be great fun and superfab informative to “track” – When, Where and How Many Pages Per Day We’re Ereading.

Here’s how it will work…

Each day (or several times per day-each time you read a bit more), stop by The RG2E, and leave a comment in this post answering the following questions:

1.) What time of day did you Eread? (Examples: during my lunch break, on the commute to and from work, while waiting on my children at various sporting event practices or games or other activities, after supper, in bed before going to sleep, etc.)

2.) Where did you Eread? (Examples: on the subway or train, in the car, in my company’s breakroom, at home in my fave reading chair, in bed, in the kitchen while preparing a meal, etc.

3.) How many pages did you Eread today? (of if your Ebook doesn’t have a page count…just let us know the percentage of each book you’ve completed)

***Note: If you want to toss in what you read and any other cool scoop you’d like to add about your reading habits over our experiment period, go ahead!

I’ll tally up everything you comment on and do a fabulous wrap-up so we can all see how much Ereading is a part of our every day lives.

Sound fun?!

Also, every time you comment, I’ll add your name to a “magick hat,” and throughout the week, you’ll have chances to win Gift Cards (Amazon, B&N, or Kobo – winners’ choices).

Okay…ready…set…Eread…then Show-and-Tell us About It, Peeps!!!

RG2E Peeps: Will Barnes and Noble Stores Have the Same Ending as Borders? How Will that Affect You?

I don’t know about you, RG2E Peeps, but I don’t have a good gut feeling about the future of Barnes and Noble brick and mortar stores. They could end up with the same fate as Borders…bankrupt and all stores closed.

Following an article in the Wall Street Journal (which is subscription only…ugh!) early last week, things ain’t lookin’ too good.

Digital Book World (DBW) is doing a great job covering it and analyzing it. So, here are the links you might want to check out:

The Barnes & Noble Elephant in the Room at DBW 2013

Barnes & Noble Worries Spread

Barnes & Noble’s Massive Tablet Failure

Barnes & Noble Overly Optimistic About Its Dark Future?

And, it’s not just their brick and mortar stores that are in trouble. Their Nook division, even with Microsoft’s money, isn’t doing great either. Sales of their new Nook tablet didn’t meet expectations during the holiday season.

So, what does all of this mean for you as Readers/Ereaders?

What is perhaps going to change is how y’all find new authors and book/Ebooks. In other words, how will you find/discover books and authors in the very near future, with and/or without any major brick and mortar chain stores like Barnes and Noble?

I just don’t think brick and mortar stores are in our future at all. Even with highly-illustrated books as in the travel and childrens’ genres, because of tablets (like the Kindle Fire and iPad), there’s simply no need for glossy paper.

My gut tells me that, in the very near future, we’ll find books and authors in two places – on Ereaders/Tablets and in The Library. (Yep, I’m betting if you want the paper/print book experience, you’ll go to your local public library for that.)

What do y’all think?

Note: I’ll do my part to continue to help Barnes & Noble, as I do sooo appreciate and love all of you Nook Readers! So, one lucky commenter today will win a $10 Nook Gift Card.

RG2E Peeps: Let’s See if We Can’t Shorten the Time It Takes To Get Your Ebook Gift Copies

Happy Tuesday, RG2E Peeps!

Welcome to The RG2E and/or Welcome Back!

I’ve been thinking about how we can streamline our process for getting each of you the Ebook Gift Copies you request…

Right now, the way it works is y’all leave your fabulous comments for each post. In your comments, you chat with our RG2E Featured Authors and then let us know which Ebooks you’d love to receive an Ebook Gift Copy of.

What happens next is that I then have to go through each comment and email your email addresses to our terrific RG2E Featured Authors so they can Ebook Gift you.

With my schedule, I try to do that once a week, but sometimes, especially if I’m on a book deadline, it can take a couple of weeks.

I’ve noticed that many of you are now leaving your email addresses right in your comments, and that is totally working to get your Ebook Gift Copies to you sooner! 🙂 That way, each day’s RG2E Featured Author can Ebook Gift you within a day or two of their post!!! Yayyy!!!

So, let’s keep doing that! Just leave your email address right in your comment! (And no worries if you don’t want to leave your email address in a public comment. For each RG2E Featured Author, we give you their contact info via Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads, websites and more. So, you could always direct message your email to them on any of those sites too!)

What do y’all think? Are you comfortable with this new method?

Let us know below…

We’re always looking for ways to make The RG2E Community an even better place to hang, and we value your opinions!!! 🙂

In the meantime, I’ll continue to catch up getting your emails to all of our RG2E Featured Authors! Be watchin’ your emails for Ebook Gift Copies ’cause I’ll be sending out a bunch of your addresses throughout the week!

RG2E Peeps: Review an Ebook by One of our RG2E Featured Authors and You Could Win an Amazon or Barnes & Noble Gift Card!

Happy Monday, RG2E Peeps!!!

We hope y’all are filling up your Ereaders with Ebook Gift Copies from all of our superfab RG2E Featured Authors!

One way you can really help your fave authors is to post a review and give their books a star-rating. It’s very easy to do on all of the Ebook Platforms (Amazon, B&N Nook, Kobo, Sony, Smashwords and iTunes).

Those wonderful 4 and 5-Star Ratings you assign to any Ebook you read really helps bump up that author’s visibility in each of the online stores like Amazon and B&N!!!

Here are a few tips and even a handy-dandy review you can simply copy and paste in:

1.  On Barnes & Noble, you can give an Ebook a Star-Rating without leaving a written review too…and you can do it anonymously.

2.  On Amazon, although you do have to do both the Star-Rating and a Written Review, your written review can be as simple as “I loved this book. It was just my kind of read.” You do not have to give some multiple paragraph dissertation about the book and could just copy and paste the highlighted sentences above as your written review.

3.  I always Rate & Review the Ebooks I luv right after I finish ‘em…that way the story is still fresh in my mind, and it’s my way of thanking the author for a great read! :-)

Superfab easy, right?!

The Ratings and Reviews you give Ebooks you’re luuuvvvin’ mean sooo much to each and every Author receiving ‘em, and as I mentioned above, the more 4 and 5-Star Reviews an Ebook has, the more it will be promoted by sites like Amazon, B&N Nook, Sony, Kobo, iTunes and more!!!

So, as I take a day to help our RG2E Featured Authors catch-up and treat y’all to Ebook Gift Copies of the new books you’ve requested here on The RG2E, take just a couple of minutes and Rate and Review one of the books you read and got a kick out of. :-)

And be watchin’ your emails…we can’t wait to fulfill your requests!

Let us know below the Review(s) you’ve completed today, and you’ll be entered to win either an Amazon or B&N $5 Gift Card…your choice!!!

Oh, and one more note, if you’re brand new to the Ebook World and/or the Ebook Reviewing World, please do NOT leave a 1-Star Review for books that you have that sound great but you haven’t read yet. Those 1-Star Reviews really hurt authors because they drag down the book’s overall rating average and lessen that book’s chance of being promoted more by the online stores.

Here’s an example of one I just got, and perhaps the reader meant well, but it really hurts more than helps…

I just received this 1-Star Review a couple of weeks ago on Amazon from a Diana Hill (who’s reviewed three games and two books, one of which includes my STUCK WITH A STIFF):

0 of 1 people found the following review helpful
1.0 out of 5 stars Not read it yet., December 28, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
This review is from: Stuck with a Stiff (The Stuck with a Series) (Kindle Edition)

I have not read it yet. But it looks good. I love humorous stories and I’m looking forward to reading it.

So, please do NOT leave this kind of 1-Star Review, but have at all the 4 and 5-Stars for the books you’ve read and loved!!!

Thanks Bunches and Happy Reading, Rating and Reviewing!!! 🙂
