When fashion designer, Umberto Fandango, goes missing, Amber becomes embroiled in a complicated case. But Amber’s arch-enemy, Chief Inspector Skipper, is also investigating his disappearance, and it’s a race against time for Amber to solve the mystery before Skipper does and get her old job back. And just when Amber thinks things can’t get any worse, she’s being stalked by some crazy mobsters.

Who is Umberto Fandango? Is he dead? And can Amber stay one step ahead and stay alive?

Welcome to my world…

I’m an author of chick lit romances and mysteries (with the odd thriller thrown in). In my spare time I’m Wonder Woman!

I have dual British/Turkish Cypriot nationality, dividing my time between Hertfordshire and North Cyprus. There are very few British writers of Turkish Cypriot origin, if any, who write commercial fiction for the women’s market. My debut novel, Fourteen Days Later,  is a romantic comedy with a unique infusion of British and Turkish Cypriot culture. It was short listed for the Harry Bowling Prize 2008 and received a Highly Commended by the Yeovil Literary Prize 2009. Written in a similar style to Sophie Kinsella and Marian Keyes, Fourteen Days Later is My Big Fat Greek Wedding meets Bridget Jones. My Perfect Wedding is the sequel to Fourteen Days Later, although it can be read as a standalone novel.

The Fashion Police is my second novel and was a runner up in the Chapter One Promotions Novel Competition 2010. It was nominated the Best Novel with Romantic Elements in 2010  by The Romance ReviewsIt is a screwball comedy-mystery, combining murder and mayhem with romance and chick-lit - the first in a series featuring insurance investigator, Amber FoxI wanted a female character who was feisty and larger than life, yet, like many of us, was aware of her flaws. I think that most readers will be able to relate to her in some way or another. Written in a similar style to Janet Evanovich and Harlan Coben, it is Stephanie Plum meets Myron Bolitar. Other Amber Fox mysteries include Be Careful What You Wish For and Voodoo Deadly.

The Baby Trap is a chick lit novel based on my own struggles with infertility and two attempts at IVF. It will have you laughing and crying at the ups and downs of modern baby-making.

How to Dump Your Boyfriend in the Men’s Room (and other short stories) is a collection of five humorous short stories – what I like to call true fiction. Some are true, some are fiction, and some are a mixture of both. I guess you have to decide which is which!

Life is about living and laughing. After all, laughing keeps you young! Engrossing yourself in a good comedy is an excellent way to de-stress from our hectic lives. I hope that my novels bring a smile to your face or give you a laugh-out-loud moment, and that you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them.

My novella Trafficked: The Diary of a Sex Slave is something very different for me. I wanted to write it because this is a subject that’s very close to my heart, and I hope it may raise awareness into human trafficking. It’s been named one of the top 40 books about Human Rights byAccredited Online Colleges.

HOOKED is a story of sex, greed, ambition, murder, revenge and assassination — and of a gifted doctor from a small town in Kentucky.

With a contemporary feel, the novel takes place in the mid-20th century when America was at the pinnacle of its power and prestige.  Set in New York and Washington, a remote fishing village on the Turkish Riviera, Sweden, Vienna, Cairo and aboard Lydia, the world’s most beautiful yacht, the story centers on Gavin Jenkins, the brilliant, charismatic Dr. FeelGood.

Dr. Jenkins’ miracle treatments give patients everything they want:  youth, beauty, radiant vitality and sexual potency.  No wonder he is worshiped by the celebrities who become his patients.  No wonder his influence runs from the private island of an enigmatic Turkish billionaire with a bloody secret to the crimson-draped bedroom of a depraved, Mid-eastern Prince;  from the private dressing rooms of world-famous artists to the heights of international society and the inner sanctums of the White House itself.

The touch of his hands and the plunge of his needle made every fantasy come true.  No wonder so many were HOOKED.

WARNING: HOOKED contains sexually explicit scenes. If you are offended by such material, please do not buy HOOKED.

About the Authors:

New York Times bestselling author Ruth Harris has sold many millions of copies around the world in hardcover and paperback editions. Her fiction has been translated into 19 languages, published in 25 countries and selected by the Literary Guild and Book-of-the-Month Club. Ms. Harris worked in traditional print publishing as a copywriter, editor and publisher before turning to the exciting new opportunities in electronic publishing. She lives in New York City with her husband, writer Michael Harris, the author of Always On Sunday and The Atomic Times: My H-Bomb Year at the Pacific Proving Ground, both available in Kindle editions.

The Beatles, Ed Sullivan and the Author Michael Harris

Ed first learns I have written a book when I hand him a finished manuscript.  Naively, I imagine he’ll be flattered, but when he reads it, he blows his stack and stops speaking to me.  He’s furious. I am revealing more about him, more backstage gossip and more details about the inner workings of the show than he wants made public.

Fortunately for me and for Always On Sunday, Ed simmers down eventually and decides my unauthorized biography is “magnificent.” He promotes it in his newspaper column, in interviews and in joint television appearances with me.  Ed helps turn the book he initially hated into a national bestseller.

During my 11 years on the Sullivan show, no one created more excitement than the Beatles. February 7, 1964: Kennedy Airport.  Their first trip to the United States.  The screaming fans!  The haircuts!  The sassy answers!  Welcome to New York!  The entire country focuses on this place and these young men.  Including me.  I am meeting their plane. A CBS public relations executive for years. Now the network’s press representative on “The Ed Sullivan Show.”

Ed was warned not to sign the Beatles: “You’re crazy! No British group has ever made it big in this country.” A month before they arrive, they are still unknown in America. Every reporter I contact turns down my invitation to go with me to JFK.

Two weeks later, “I Want To Hold Your Hand” rockets to the top of the charts.  Beatlemania crosses the Atlantic, and I am besieged by thousands of ticket requests. Reporters plead to join me at JFK.

On February 14, I greet the Beatles again, this time in Miami for a second Sullivan show.  I do my best to stay out of the way but, thanks to papparazzi determined to cash in on every shot of the Fab Four, I appear in photos published around the world (including the NY Post). In the captions I am called a Beatle, a case of mistaken identity I still laugh about with my wife, best-selling novelist Ruth Harris.

When I return to New York, Ed searches for me backstage. One stagehand is impressed.  “Ed must really like you,” he says.  “You’ve only worked for him for four years, and he already knows your name.”

My name is Elena and I used to be a human being. Now I am a sex slave.
If you are reading this diary then I am either dead or I have managed to escape…

Trafficked: The Diary of a Sex Slave is a gritty, gripping, and tear-jerking novella, inspired by real victims’ accounts and research into the sex trafficking underworld. It’s been listed as one of the Top 40 Books About Human Rights by Accredited Online Colleges.

It is estimated that 800,000 people are trafficked across international borders every year – 80% of these are women and girls. (Source: U.S. Department of State, Trafficking in Persons Report: 2007)

EDITORIAL REVIEWS

“Hodge took her readers to a rare journey that touches and break the hearts all at the same time through the eyes of Elena, the victim to whom the diary belongs. While reading, I could feel the victim’s emotions pouring through; her sadness, frustration, anger and fear bundled into a giant seemingly endless burden. Hodge really did a great job in describing everything, no matter how explicit it was.” — The Bornean Bookworm

“Although the subject is a devastating one this story is beautifully written by Hodge. Hodge does a wonderful job, she manages to take you on this gritty journey leaving you breathless at the end. I highly recommend this novel! It is extremely moving, you will not be disappointed.” — Boekie’s Book Reviews

“Heart wrenching and well written” — Can’t Put It Down

“This story is utterly heartbreaking. Some of the things that happen to Elena are truly horrific but somehow she never quite loses hope that she will be reunited with her daughter again. Being written in diary form I could see her in my head and I truly felt the things she was going through. I am not ashamed to admit I was in tears in places.” — Wistful Kimmie’s Book Reviews

Film lover Barbara Marr is a typical suburban mom living the typical suburban life in her sleepy little town of Rustic Woods, Virginia. Typical, that is until she sets out to find the missing link between a bizarre monkey sighting in her yard and the bone chilling middle-of-the-night fright fest at the strangely vacant house next door. When Barb talks her two friends into some seemingly innocent Charlie’s Angels-like sleuthing, they stumble upon way more than they bargained for and uncover a piece of neighborhood history that certain people would kill to keep on the cutting room floor.

Enter sexy PI Colt Baron, Barb’s ex-boyfriend who would love to be cast as new leading man, filling the role just vacated by her recently estranged husband, Howard. When Colt flies in from out of town to help Barb, events careen out of control and suddenly this mini-van driving mother of three becomes a major player in a treacherous and potentially deadly FBI undercover operation. It’s up to her now. With little time to spare, she and she alone, must summon the inner strength necessary to become a true action heroine and save the lives of those she loves. The question is can she get them out alive before the credits roll?

Part of Series: A Barbara Marr Murder Mystery (#1)

About the Author:

I have been writing plays and short stories for many years, some of which were published in various college literary magazines. In 2010, my short story “The Recollections of Rosabelle Raines,” was published in the mystery anthology Chesapeake Crimes: They Had it Comin’ available at Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, or directly from the publisher, Wildside Press.

But I had always wanted to write a novel. I found that more difficult. Finally, a few years ago I became inspired to write my first novel, Take the Monkeys and Run, a comedy-mystery, inspired, to some degree by a true monkey sighting. I followed that up with a Barbara Marr short story collection, The Chronicles of Marr-nia, and a second mystery novel,Citizen Insane.

Because I love to laugh as well as make other people laugh, I have the most fun imagineable writing the character Barbara Marr as well as her friends and adversaries. When I set out to write these books, I knew I wanted to write something that readers would say, “Now that was FUN.” I HOPE I have achieved that goal. And if I did, please feel free to drop me a line at and let me know! I love to hear from readers. (especially if you LIKE the book!)

These days, I can be found pecking away at my laptop, conjuring the third Barbara Marr novel, Silenced by the Yams.

‘Murder has took this chamber with full hands
And will ne’er out as long as the house stands.’

Clara is trapped and forced back in time to bear witness to a family’s bloody saga. Overtaken by the malevolent echoes, Scott is pushed over the edge from possessive husband to wholly possessed…

Covert operative Horace Chase has been chasing ghosts his entire life.
First, his Medal-of-Honor winner father who died in Vietnam without ever meeting his son. And left him the legacy of an automatic appointment to the Military Academy at West Point which shaped the next thirty-five years of Chase’s life. Then, the ghost of his mother, who died while he was at war in Afghanistan and wounded, causing him to resign his commission and return to the United States, a lost soul.

Chase now wears two hats as a Federal counter-terrorism liaison to the local police department in Boulder, Colorado where he becomes embroiled in two seemingly un-related cases. Working as a detective with Boulder PD he chases another death, this one the apparent rape/murder of Rachel Stevens, an upscale housewife attending night classes at the University of Colorado. Mystery-suspense-thriller writer, Faith Mortimer is delighted to add book three to the best-selling Diana Rivers mystery thriller series. This latest novel, “The Surgeon’s Blade” is chilling, tense and is described as a ‘real corker of a read’.

When nursing sister, Libby Hunter wakes up in hospital following a traumatic sailing accident she discovers two deeply disturbing things. One – she has lost her memory and two – the stranger, (Nigel) whom she finds sitting by her bedside when she awakes claims to be her fiancé.

During her hospital stay, Libby regains most of her memory, except the bizarre thing is she cannot remember ever being engaged to surgeon, Nigel. Against her will Nigel persuades Libby into agreeing to move in with him. Working on instinct she finds excuses to put him off until she is completely sure of her true feelings.

During a series of attacks on nurses in London and Southampton, Libby finds herself in great danger when her home is broken into one night. Who is the intruder and does he plan on harming her? And is this connected in any way to the recent attacks on nursing staff. Will Libby be the attacker’s latest targeted victim?

Distressed Libby turns to pilot, Robert for help and understanding, but is he as respectable and kind as he appears to be? Is her fiancé, Nigel trustworthy, especially when his ex-wife, Stella enters the scene and Libby suspects them of rekindling their relationship?

The night time intrusion to Libby’s house sets in motion a downwards spiral of cataclysmic and terrifying events, culminating in our favourite sleuth, Diana Rivers stepping in to help solve the case in this chilling mystery thriller.
