RG2E Featured Author Adan Lerma on “Going FREE” and “Prioritizing Time as an Author”

Happy Weekend, RG2E Peeps!

Ever wonder how an Author gets their Ebooks FREE on various sites? Here’s a hint: it ain’t always easy. 🙂  Also, how do Authors prioritize their writing time with everything it takes to run a publishing business?

Here’s RG2E Featured Author Adan Lerma to chat with you on both topics…

smiling-dk-bl-shirt-1502

My post today addresses two important items in my life: free pricing of seven of my titles by outlets willing to price my original work as per my wishes, and, my need to choose what I wish to do with the time I have available.

***

FREE PRICING

Please note that some outlets do not have the option of letting authors feature a particular work priced as Free.

I respectfully request that anyone desiring one of the titles I wish to offer free of charge to the public, to contact the outlet of their choice not participating in my free pricing.  It would be tremendously helpful to me and to others wishing to be able to download that work for their reader at the price I would like it to be offered for.

Below are the seven titles I am glad to offer priced as Free through participating outlets.

Several outlets, such as Kobo & Smashwords offer formats that they say are readable on just about any reader.

Hopefully you will find one or more these titles worth trying, and even more so, available for your reader.

2 Shorts, a Poem, & a Sampler (fiction) – Anthology

A Month of Mornings Vol 1 – Everyday poetry

Creative Gratitudes Vol 1 – Enhanced photos with gratitude verse

Everyday Gratitude Vol 1 – Small gratitudes of every day

Everyday Inspirations – PhotoPoems Vol 1 – Photography matched with verse for inspiration

CHOOSING PRIORITIES FOR MY TIME

The other thing that has been evolving in my thoughts for quite awhile, is the convergence of so many things I want to do.  A good problem really, but now at a point I need to address, or I won’t be able to do much of anything well!

Learning to do, then implementing social media and other marketing, has been and is extremely enjoyable for me.

At the same time, I have had the opportunity to participate in more and more family related activities, and this is something that is extremely important for me.

Additionally, what I enjoy doing creatively, writing and creating images, has evolved to where I have considerable content to work with.

Unfortunately, I cannot do all three, and do them well, nor enjoy them.  So I must choose.  At least for now.

Family and creative work, if I am to do the creative work I wish to do, and participate with family in ways that are meaningful, I need to cut my time spent in marketing.

Already I have placed my blog on blog-cation through mid january.  Now, I am cutting my social media time.  I will still communicate and participate with people who contact me.

But if I am to create the fiction and poetry work I feel compelled to create.  And prepare and present the images I feel have something significant to offer.  Then I must focus more on the two more important things in my life.

So with that, I wish everyone well, hope for best for all of us, including myself, and release myself into the work and activities I feel are most important for my life at this time.

Thanks so much everyone, particularly, on this site, D.D. Scott.  She has been so supportive and positive.

Happy Holidays Everyone!  Best Wishes 😉

~~~ Adan
—————–
by Sheila Lerma
For anyone wanting to experience the enveloping love of family, relating to each other at all generational levels, “The Children” is the read for you.It captivates and reminds us of the strength and importance of family ties and the love that generates from them.
As a parent, your heart will warm as you feel the love of the generations above and below you unite.
As a grandparent, your heart will bask in the comforting glow of a loving family lineage.
And as a child, your heart will open wide to the wonders of young love and gentle family support.
“The Children” fills in and enhances the longing relationships depicted so beautifully in “The Old American Artist” and “Rosetta.”
It brings full circle the loving relationships that define family and allows us to experience the sheer joy of reading.
Nearly twenty years of poetry writing is exhibited in the current collection of sports poems in “101 Sports Poems – The Poems.”
Baseball – Basketball – Bicycling – Bowling – Cheerleading – Coaching – Dance – Drill Team – Fishing – Football – Golf – Gymnast – Horse Riding – Hunting – Inspiration – Martial Arts – Running – Soccer – Sports Fan – Swimming – Tennis – Trainer – Volleyball – Wrestling – Yoga & more!
Many of the sports experiences expressed by these poems are the result of direct experiences by the author, Felipe Adan Lerma. Now older, Adan began writing these small poems in the early 90s, and has continued into what Adan calls, being “a young senior.”
For the casual, or initial reader, “The Poems” edition offers a straight-through reading enjoyment of all the various sports represented.
Some poetry is humorous, while others are seriously presented. After many decades of layman participatory sports, formally and informally, a wide gamut of feelings are found.
The list of sports poem topics includes, among many others, baseball, dance, horse riding, football, coaching, and volleyball.
Please read through the fully linked index for the complete list of sports topics and the titles within those topics.
A special section entitled “Singles” represents poems of which there is only one for that category. Major sports interests are included in this category, including basketball and gymnast.
Literary Muse-ings with RG2E Featured Author Adan Lerma
Happy Weekend, RG2E Peeps!
Welcome to The RG2E and/or Welcome Back!
Today, we’re tickled to Welcome to The RG2E, Literary Fiction Author Adan Lerma.
Take it away, Adan…
First, let me say what a privilege and welcome opportunity this is, from the folks here at RG2E, me to be able to present something to the readership here, at least once a month for the near and mid-future.
My plan, since I have been given a blinking green light to write about what might interest me in presenting you, has several initial components.
The go ahead is a blinking green light, in my eye, because for me, this will not be go go go, but stop and go, re-evaluating as I post each month.  My plan may not have suddenly revealed a sink hole, but I may have found a better route or destination than what I GPS’d when I input “fun.”
Initial components sounds ominous to me, so I want to reassure the reader, and myself, these are very broad, easily malleable, giant soft foam boulders serving as guideposts.
Broadly speaking, these playtime boulders are so light, my granddaughters can sink their small fingers into any one of them, lift it with one fake grunt, and set it on top of one their sisters or cousins.
Why some of my titles are, as per literary DNA, part romance…
How one or more books in one of my series “arc”…
When I find poetry helpful in fiction..
These are playtime toys that children naturally roll around and lean against so they can laughingly collapse to the floor, pointing a funny finger at us adults for being so astonished it can so easy.
But as an adult, my bone are set and don’t “bounce” in a way I can recover from so easily.  My sense of balance would probably have me sliding off the play ball and onto the floor as soon I touched the thing!  And my sense of fun might be mitigated by an equal sense of appearing foolish.
So this is a challenge for me.
I worry about things.
But still, I remember being that child that rolled down the metal slide thinking I would bounce off the ground like the cartoon characters I loved.  And I want to recapture some of that magic way of looking at the world, yet still be a grown-up.  A much older grown-up.  Half dozen decades old grown-up.
That’s, kinda, what my first fiction series, my first fiction since 1981, is about.
The first book, presented here now, “The Old American Artist, a Love Story,” begins that arc of discovering, recovering, and keeping, that cherished childhood magic.
FREE, at Participating Outlets: B&N Nook , Google Books ,  iTunes , Kobo and Smashwords
Yoga-Adan : FREE Available on Request in PDF Form : yoga.adan@gmail.com
***Note: Hopefully, Amazon will price-match soon! 🙂
There’s bits of memories, including scenes with a child who is very young, but this is an older man, an artist, in love with the same woman for over thirty years.  This is what happens after the happily ever after, which, apparently, must be a recurring thing in a person’s life. 😉
This book is free at participating outlets.  If you find one that doesn’t yet feature it free, please ask them to.
This title is also available at no charge, in three posts, on my website.
The next book in this series “Rosetta,” is also now available, and listing for this book are also posted on my website, on my listings page : http://yoga-adan.com/poetry-ebooks/ .
I present more of the other side of the romantic sandwich so to speak, with the old artist’s wife point of view.  She, active all her life, has to have, then has, a full knee replacement surgery.  The second half of the book chronicles the process of recovery, and the stresses and rewards within the relationship.
And snippets of a little one, one human and one feline, are interwoven into the story.
The third book, “The Children,” on schedule for an October release, completes the initial arc with an explosion of children.  Some are adult children, others teens, some in-between, with some little ones filling in the relationships.  I’ll have more on this later this year.
Hopefully you will choose to get and will enjoy my first book in this series, “The Old American Artist, a Love Story,” which is free (a participating outlets).  Thank you so much for your time.  Best wishes. 😉
In the meantime, RG2E Peeps: How many of you read Literary Fiction? And how ’bout Poetry? Do we have any Poetry-loving Peeps?
Thanks so much, Adan, for sharing your thoughts and muse-ings with us today and for treating us to the first book in your series! 🙂
RG2E’s EOTD is Felipe Adan Lerma’s Love Story The Old American Artist
Happy Hump Day, RG2E Peeps!
Welcome to The RG2E and/or Welcome Back!
Today, we’ve got a fabulous love story from one of my fave peeps…Felipe Adan Lerma! Wavin’ atchya, Adan!!!
On Amazon , B&N Nook and Smashwords
Price: $2.99
First in series.  Over 37,000 words.
Second in series, “Rosetta” is scheduled for availability around mid to late August this year.A romance and an artist’s story, how could it not be a love story?We all love a story that shows how a loving pair, meeting obstacles in life, overcome that challenge, and resolve to love each other. But what happens during the “lived happily ever after” part? What are the details, what might the process be, achieving and living that post-crisis life?
This arc, from boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy regains girl, morphs, in this first of three books, in the trilogy Triptych, into that fuller story of life, and love.
Note from The Author:
This is the first of three planned novellas centered around Arturo the artist and his wife Rosetta. That is of course, the simple layout. Complexities of relationships, living many years, and addressing meaning in life, are the more complex issues.
My own working preference, and manner of doing best it seems, is to concentrate a point of view from one character, with input from other surrounding important characters. So I do better, as a writer, creating three novellas, than trying to mesh together stories about the artist Arturo, his wife Rosetta, and all the children and grandchildren and the main characters’ childhoods involved.
Thus, the three books imagined are, “The Old American Artist, a Love Story,” “Rosetta,” and “The Children.”
Though the differing books’ stories are not entirely concurrent, they overlap, producing, I believe, some interesting effects.
Also, in terms of scenic technique and narrative, the form I follow here is less linear, and more cinematic.
In the first book, and it appears in the second and third books as well, two timelines are used.
One is set all in one part of a day, Arturo’s movement from the morning of his big anticipated art show that evening to that event.
This timeline is interspersed in scenes with the second time frame, which begins over thirty years earlier, and provides an interacting backstory to the events of that one day.
Almost all issues are resolved by the end of this first book, with hints of issues that are picked up and elaborated in the second book, “Rosetta.”
I chose to call this a “love story” rather than a romance, even though, as per the Romance Writers of America, this book qualifies as a story about “a central love story and an emotionally-satisfying and optimistic ending.”
The reason for that is because of the equally important story of being an artist, which makes this book a cross genre offering.
Romance and art. It had to be a love story. 😉
About Adan:
I have been writing and creating pictures since high school in the sixties, and began writing more seriously in the late 70s and early 80s.
One of my more recent surprises has been to read a definition of Romance that seems to generally fit the majority of both my poetry and fiction: a central story involving the relationship of two people, and a generally optimistic and satisfying ending.
With that revelation, I now view Romance fiction in a whole new light. 🙂
I’ve also created a small ebook, “2 Shorts, a Poem, & a Sampler (fiction)” with samples dating from 1981, and a four chapter sample of the new romance novella, “The Old American Artist, a Love Story.”
The new longer fiction work compliments my continuing poetry about family, relationships, and of course love. 🙂
Born and raised in Texas, and now a young senior living in Vermont, his wife Sheila’s home state, Adan brings a gentle infusion of yoga and fitness to bear on life long interests in writing, painting, dance, photography, and the arts in general.
Determined to learn about the ideas of Western Culture that have informed our civilization, Adan put himself through college with the help of his GI Bill benefits. More recently, he has added certifications in fitness and yoga.
